FEHB vs Military Health Care System (MHCS)

Currently I am enrolled into FEHB as a FERS retiree. I am a retired Gray Area Reservist. At age 60, I will eligible for the Military Health Care System (MHCS)
Can I disenroll from FEHB and enroll into the MHCS?
What is the name of the MHCS and what are the premium costs?
Will FEHB be available to re-enroll in at a later or do I lose this benefit permanently?

As a FERS retiree, you are eligible to keep your FEHB as long as you pay your premiums. As a retiree, if you ever cancel your FEHB, you are ineligible to reenroll. However, retirees eligible for TRICARE, TRICARE for Life (enrollees over age 65 with Medicare Parts A and B), Peace Corps, or CHAMPVA can “suspend” their FEHB and later voluntarily reenroll in the FEHBP during an annual open season. Here is the link for the “suspension” form, RI-79-9, https://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/ri79-9.pdf
With respect to military health care, you will need to contact your military retirement counselor or visit the following site for additional information:
