FERS Supplement Reinstatement

I retired in June, 2018 at age 58. I received the FERS Sup for 12 months (8/18 to 7/19), then it stopped, as my earned income in calendar year 2018 exceeded the Soc Sec limitation. And so also for CY 2019. My CY 2020 earned income was well below the SS limitation, and I have applied for reinstatement of the Sup. I will turn 62 in 11/21. How many months’ worth of Sup payments should I expect?

Just as the supplement pays one year before it stops due to excess earnings, it is reinstated one year after you have dropped below the earnings limit amount. Based on what I see in your question, it appears you should receive reinstatement as of January 2021. Keep checking with OPM to have these monies reinstated.

Thanks for the response! Now if OPM would only open their mail in a timely fashion......
