FERS Supplemental Annuity at 55?

I am 55 and have over 25 years of service in the FERS system. I am going to retire under the involuntary separation/discontinued service formula, so I am going to collect the FERS basic annuity in retirement. I am eligible for the FERS supplemental annuity at age 56. My question is, will I begin drawing the supplement annuity at 56 even if I retire at age 55?

Correct. The FERS rules say you can collect a FERS retirement prior to your Minimum Retirement Age if you retire under the Discontinued Service Retirement option. However, the FERS Retiree Supplement rules state for regular FERS retirees although your FERS is payable immediately, your supplement will not kick in until you have reached your MRA.
