Giving up green card means you lose survivor annuity?

I am considering giving up my green card and returning to the UK (my country of citizenship) but I have read an article that seems to indicate the possibility that federal annuities/pensions can be lost if you renounce citizenship or in the case of LPR’s give up their green card. The only case I can find this is in the case of military pensions but i want to clarify if this also aplies to CSRS.

If I read your question correctly, you are not giving up US citizenship as you mentioned your “green card.” If you have earned a CSRS pension and wish to live in Great Britain, you can collect your earned pension however it will have to be deposited in a US financial institution.

I am sorry I wasn’t as clear as I should have been. I am the spouse of a federal employee, If he should pass away and i decided to return to the UK at some point, would my survivor annuity stop. Apologies for the poorly phrased question.

There are some banned countries but living in the UK will not be an issue. If the time comes, you will have to research what is the best way to get your money deposited and which health plan would be best for you.

Thank you for your reply, being a UK Citizen the health plan issue would be resolved by re engaging with the NHS. The direct deposit requires a US institute so i would look to a bank that offers international banking.
