I am retired under FERS and we file tax form 1040A. Can we deduct monthly health insurance premiums on our federal income tax returns?

There are very specific rules regarding deducting your health insurance premiums on your federal tax return. You must either file with itemized deductions or be self-employed. I would strongly recommend you consult with a tax professional before trying to claim this deduction.

We file with itemized deductions: mortgage interest, property taxes, and charities.
