I am facing separation at the end of 2018 after 8 years of service due to position elimination. I am 57 years old. Is there a way to keep health benefits ? Is early retirement with health insurance an option? Is there available health coverage for a while after separation? Additionally, I have served six and a half years in the Air Force at an earlier time. Thank you

If your 8 years of service does not include your military service and you make a deposit for those 6.5 years, you will have more than 10 creditable years when you are separated and would be eligible for an MRA+10 retirement, which permits continuing FEHB. If however you have less than 10 years at separation, then no, you would only be eligible for TCC, temporary Conversion of coverage as your only retirement option would be deferred and that option does not permit continuing FEHB when the annuity commences.

Go to VA and fill out form for care, they go by current pay, I use them.
