Social Security Supplement calculation


Is the Social Security Supplement calculated in whole years or years and months? For example 29 years 6 months would equal ?/40? Also is accumulated sick leave used for the calculation of the supplement?

The FERS Retiree Supplement is based on full years of FERS civilian service which means no sick leave would be included. The manual states: •The numerator is the retiree’s total civilian service creditable under FERS, rounded to the nearest whole number, but not exceeding 40 years.
