I read that unused sick leave can be added to my creditable service time. So if I wish to retire at 20 years service and I have 7 months worth of sick leave, will I be able to retire at 19 yrs. five months? Using the sick leave to bring my service time up to 20 years? RESOLVED Blocked by moderator

Private answer No, you can’t retire earlier based on sick leave. However you when you retire at 20 years, your annuity would be based on 20 years and 7 months of service. Blocked by moderator |

Private answer Tthe CSRS FERS Handbook states you cannot use your sick leave to meet the minimum service requirement to retire. Here is that link: https://www.opm.gov/retirement-services/publications-forms/csrsfers-handbook/c020.pdf See page 46, Restrictions. Blocked by moderator |
